What is Dew Point?
The dew point is the temperature at which air becomes saturated with moisture and dew begins to form. It's a better indicator of humidity comfort than relative humidity because it remains constant regardless of temperature changes.
Comfort Guidelines
Below 50°F (10°C):Dry and comfortable
50-60°F (10-16°C):Very comfortable
60-65°F (16-18°C):Slightly humid but tolerable
65-70°F (18-21°C):Humid and uncomfortable
Above 70°F (21°C):Very humid and oppressive
Why It Matters for HVAC
Understanding dew point helps you optimize your HVAC system for comfort. When the dew point is high, your air conditioner needs to work harder to remove moisture from the air. Maintaining a comfortable dew point (around 50-60°F or 10-16°C) ensures both temperature and humidity are at optimal levels.
