How to use this chart
The saturation curve shows the bubble-point pressure at which liquid R-454B begins to vaporize for a given temperature. In the field, you read this two ways:
- Suction-side superheat: measure suction pressure → look up saturation temperature → subtract from the suction-line temperature. Open Superheat Calculator →
- Liquid-side subcooling: measure liquid pressure → look up saturation temperature → subtract the liquid-line temperature. Open Subcool Calculator →
R-454B is a zeotropic blend with about 1.5 °F glide between bubble (saturated liquid) and dew (saturated vapor) points. This chart shows bubble-point pressures, which are the right reference for subcool work and within field tolerance for superheat. For tight superheat tuning, add ~1.5 °F when reading saturation temperature on the suction side.
R-454B is rated A2L (mildly flammable). Observe manufacturer leak, brazing, and ventilation requirements when servicing R-454B equipment. It is the lower-GWP successor to R-410A in modern residential and light commercial AC.
